Honorable Representative Ricardo Precilla Carrión

Community Board Representative

Ricardo Precilla Carrión was born in the township of Alcalde Díaz in 1964 and knew it since it was a rural area, where agriculture, fishing and hunting were practiced in different sectors.

From a young age he devoted himself to door-to-door sales for more than 30 years, a trade that allowed him to meet many people and perceive the needs of the humblest in different areas of the country. His motivation has been to work for people in need and to see his township urbanized.

Since he was elected representative of the township of Alcalde Díaz, he has not stopped working with his team to fulfill his commitment, helping countless communities, across three consecutive terms (2014-2019, 2019-2024 and 2024-2029).

Our community

History

Don Mauricio Díaz Garcés, Mayor of the capital district at the time, during the presidency of Don Enrique A. Jiménez, founded the community of Alcalde Díaz in response to the lack of housing and the migration of citizens from various provinces in that era.

On Sunday, August 29, 1948, on the grounds of the current Escuela Unión Panamericana, a group of residents gathered and determined a new name for this sector. Three proposals were presented: Progreso Díaz, Mauricio Díaz and Alcalde Díaz, the latter being chosen. Basically they were humble people who worked as fishermen, farmers, among others. Initially it was called Sitio Peñón.

The population grew rapidly, so it was elevated to a township through agreement No. 70 of June 23, 1960 under the name Las Cumbres and Alcalde Díaz.

In 1972, the township representation system was implemented in Panama, with the first representative of the Township of Las Cumbres and Alcalde Díaz being Lic. Ernesto Córdoba Campos (q.e.p.d.).

It ceased to belong to Las Cumbres through Law 42 of July 10, 2009 and became a new township of Alcalde Díaz, with its current representative being the Honorable Ricardo Precilla Carrión during 3 consecutive terms: 2014-2019, 2019-2024 and 2024-2029.
